Links, Links, Links, Links, Links!
These are a few of my favorite links. Partly, I'm just putting them here for my own convenience. But maybe you want someone to blame for leading you astray.
News
- Slashdot - A sad, virtual community built around tech news.
- Kuro5hin - Like slashdot, only smaller and less techy. I haven't been reading this much lately.
- Findory - It's like Google News only it knows what you like. Spooky, huh.
- NewsIsFree - Like Google News but it also has a treemap visualization of the news. The treemap is under-utilized though.
Movies
- IMDB - If you haven't heard of this yet - you must be new here...
- The Filthy Critic - The only movie critic I read regularly. Be warned that he has that name for a reason.
- Movielens - Uses "collaborative filtering" to recommend movies based on your previous ratings and other people's ratings.
- Rotten Tomatoes - Let the real critics tell you if the movie will be any good.
Comics
- Homestarrunner.net - It's dot com!
- Dr. Fun - What it lacks in quality, it makes up for in volume.
- Dilbert - I know it's a little overdone. But I'll go ahead and admit to reading it.
- Rhymes with Orange - A few too many cat cartoons for me to comfortably reference...
- User Friendly - I read a book of these once that I really liked... But I can't remember laughing at any recent ones.
- Penny Arcade - You too can pretend to be up on the latest gaming trends
- The Onion - Not exactly a comic but close enough.
Blog Mining
- Ice Rocket - Let's you explore trends in blogs.
- Blog Pulse - Similar to Ice Rocket. Do your marketing through blogging!
- Technorati - A search engine for blogs. This was trendy for a while but I've heard lots of grumblings about it recently.
- PubSub - A blog search and subscription thing.
- Daypop - Yet another blog search engine.
- Feedster - Yet another blog search engine.
- Blogdex - A blog popularity tracker
Trendy
- Flickr - A place to post and comment on photos.
- Del.icio.us - A social bookmarking thing.
